As others have stated the big gear is fine, but i had to replace one of my smaller gears and the inside shaft is a slightly different diameter than the originals, forcing me to have to use both smaller gears and the shaft, and the notches on the shaft were no correct so i had to modify it myself to make it work.

A very tempting cheap fix but, alas, too good to be true. These window regulators Mazda used are not exactly of sturdy quality to begin with, but the original in mine lasted at least 9 years. This replacement gear, while a perfect fit, only made it about 4 months (and only very light use during that time). The OEM regulator is still available from Mazda – it’s significantly more expensive than this aftermarket gear, but (a) makes the job much simpler and (b), most importantly, actually works. Replacing the regulator is really simple – beginner level DIY stuff. A grand total of 6 easily accessible screws. Other than that, the only skill required is keeping your nerve through all the “did I just break something?” thoughts that arise when pulling apart modern interior trim pieces and hearing all kinds of fasteners pop and snap. Long story longer, I would splurge for the OEM regulator, as it’s still a much cheaper route than the $600 or so that Mazda dealers apparently charge for this job.

Output shaft too tight
The gears in this kit appeared to be a perfect match to the OEM gears in the motor assembly and went together well. After replacing the gears, I started to reinstall the motor assembly. The replacement output shaft was a tighter fit into the regulator pulley than the OEM shaft. Consequently, when I tightened the motor retention screws, It pushed the regulator housing rearward breaking the small plastic tabs that hold it to the inner door panel. The regulator housing fell into the door and the pulley cables became unwound. I consulted the CX-9 repair manual and it said “do not unwind the cables”. They were not kidding. After hours of fiddling with the regulator cables, I gave up and ordered a new regulator assembly. If you plan on replacing the window motor gears with this kit, I have two suggestions. The first is to reuse the original output shaft. The other suggestion is to remove the door speaker. That way you can reach up through the hole and support the rear of the regulator housing while installing the motor.

One part fit poorly.
The hub to the smaller gears has two notches in it. The two notches on the old hub are of different sizes, and the notches on the replacement hub are the same size. The part will not quite fit, although it could easily be carved a bit to make it fit. I just used the old hub, and all was good.

Update: After 1 year, the teeth on the new gear broke, with very little usage on the window. Low quality plastic. I hope I find a better kit this time, because I really dont want to have to do this every year.

This works for a 2012 Mazda CX-9 Touring. The only issue I had is with the spindle piece that fits in the middle of the motor gears did not seat correctly which made it so I could not snap the removable cover back on correctly. I just used the old spindle and got it to snap on. You have to be careful removing the gear covers or you will snap the plastic arms. Honestly, it would be better to just buy the after market motor for $35 and save some time. I will do that next time.

Good Kit Except One of the Pieces is Made With an Error
In general I liked this kit but as mentioned by one of the other reviewers the smallest piece is not made correctly. The notch cut on the ends needs to be cut larger on one side for the unit to be able to be re-assembled correctly. I thought of re-using the old part but the fit of the gears was better with the new part. Fortunately with some careful Dremel work I was able to modify the new part to work. I hope the supplier updates their design to make everything fit correctly.

My window would go down so far, stop, you would have to push it down a bit then it would continue, then stop again etc.. Then do the reverse when rolling it up only you had to pull it up. I replaced the main gear and now I dont have to be embarrassed at drive thrus! Great for the price!

I personally had no issues, and would recommend this product to someone trying to save money and replace their gears. Fixed driver side window on 2006 Mazda 3 hb. Looks like oem, perfect fit. Look up Youtube video on how to open up regulator motor case. Requires quite a lot of force to open and snap it back together. Be very careful to not let glass drop or slip off track.

Fits 2005 Mazda 6 correctly
Fits my 2005 Mazda 6. Less expensive than replacing the whole motor. Likely the Mazda motor is better than any aftermarket one. Also, I only replaced the gear that had broken teeth and not others for the same reason. Make sure you clean out any remaining broken teeth everywhere inside the mechanism before reassembly and apply grease.

My 2014 Mazda CX9 driver side window lost a few teeth on a gear in the gear box for the power window motor. (common problem apparently for this car). 14$ as opposed to 100s of dollars to get it fixed or even 50 for a new motor. Works just fine now.

Most of the parts were good, some not so good
So first off, Im glad they sold this set. With out it I would have had to bought a new motor for 4X the price, so this was a good option. Also, I was sure a gear was stripped, but not sure which gear it was, and because I didnt want to wait a few days for the right part to arrive (with the door panel off) I bought the set.

Everything looked good until the install. The gear that is yellowish (I dont know the technical term for that particular cog) and you can see from the outside of the motor would not mate up with the regulator. I tried about a half dozen time before I disassembled the motor again and tried to just fit just the piece to the regulator. It was obvious. The molding was shoddy and without some whittling of the utility knife, it would never fit. The gear portion was warped and could not seat in the receiver of the regulator.
Luckily the OE part was still in perfect shape, so I swapped it out and the whole mechanism mated perfectly. 10 minutes later, the panel was back on the the wife was happy her window was fixed. I was happy that she didnt go to the dealer because they quoted her $450 for the repair.
Overall, everything worked, but it was disappointing that I had to cobble the OE pieces with the new pieces to make it work. Even worse, I greased all the gears every time, so there was lots of wasted white lithium grease. Hope this helps.

Toughest part of the job was removing the cap off the window motor with a screwdriver and mallet. Got some lithium grease for $5 at the hardware store (doesnt degrade plastic) to lube the new gears.

This kit gives you a lot for the money. Unfortunately, some parts are made in a sloppy manner. But it probably will give you enough to get the regulator working again, if you reuse the good parts from the OEM regulator. I advise you to check the fit of each part before you put the regulator back together.

What I found was that the sliding sleeve (the smallest part in the product image) was too tight. To me, this appears to be part of the safety feature that disables the window if it starts to close on a body part. Its supposed to pop loose if too much torque is applied, and stop the window from moving any further. I didnt want to risk inadvertently disabling the safety feature, so I reused the OEM sleeve that fit properly.

I also reused the OEM rubber bumpers and stepped gear, because they were still in decent shape, and they seemed to be made of better material than what came in this kit. It would be nice to have all new parts, but I felt more comfortable keeping as many OEM parts as possible and only replacing what was irreparably broken.

All in all, the kit worked out. I would buy a better quality kit for a little more money (if I knew which one might be better quality).

Main gear is better material than original, as a less brittle nylon. Takes a half hour of somewhat pleasant work. Easy assembly to replace. Just systematically dismantle old parts and swap in new. When we opened the original gear box, there were multiple broken gears because broken teeth get jammed into the system and cause havoc on all the parts. Definitely worth getting the whole set.

Driver and passenger windows in our 2008 Mazda CX-9 were not working. Both made a horrible sound and would only go down a few inches. Then you would have to push the window up to get it to close. After some research and online videos, determined that it was most likely a broken plastic gear. They were right! Purchased two of these sets (one for each of the front windows). Since this whole set was so inexpensive, figured we might as well replace all the parts while we were in there. Only needed to purchase a set of dental tools and plastic trim & molding tools from Harbor Freight to get the door trim off. This set fixed the problem and was easy to install! Easy and inexpensive fix!

Multiple tips included
Bought two sets of these after both driver and passenger side side needed assistance via pulling up on the glass to get the window up. This is after the dealership wanted $562 to replace both. If your window rolls down and has troubling getting up without assistance this is what you need. Its tempting to buy just the big gear thats cheaper but I found out that one of the smaller gears was worn down also. You will need a 10mm socket (deep socket preferred) a trim tool, a screwdriver, painters tape, and a chair. Watch the numerous YouTube videos before you start. Roll the window all the way up. Tape the window up starting at the bottom of the window going over the window frame and onto the glass on the other side. Two strips are needed. Pop off trim in 3 places, disconnect the motor to the mirror and take out 2 10mm screws and screw behind the door handle. Pry all along the outside of the door with the trim tool. Not gently lift up while slightly pulling the door cover toward you. If you lift straight up its hard to get out. Firm but gentle here. Heres where the chair comes into use. Place the chair close to the dirt but far enough away that it takes the weight of the door assembly and you dont have to hold it. You can now see the motor. Disconnect the electrical to the motor. Take out the 3 bolts. Now you have the whole window motor assembly out. This next part is tricky and requires you to wear a glove preferably leather and have thin flat blade screwdriver. Lay the motor assembly flat on the table with the thicker side down. Using the screwdriver pry into the plastic at the ears and gently rotate the screwdriver. You will hear a crack, but dont worry. Now go around the assembly and it will pop open. Take a picture as soon as you open it so you will know how it goes back together. Clean out all the plastic pieces that are floating around otherwise you may be doing this again. Now do everything in reverse. It should take you about 20 – 30 minutes the first time, Ive done so many now it takes about 7 minutes start to finish. We have 3 Mazdas. Now pat yourself on the back knowing you just saved yourself at least $175.

No issues with installation. Was cautioned to be careful while splitting the housing, no problem. Cleaned out the old grease, installing/replacing the gears was simple, applied new grease, put it back together, problem solved. To reset the one touch up and down just roll the window down and hold the button for 5 seconds. Roll the window up and hold for seconds. Mazda should fix this common problem. Probably saved $300 off dealer repair cost unless they would replace the gears only instead of the entire motor assy but I doubt they would.

The gears and rubber insert were all there. Two o-rings are not included, one for the external bit piece, and one for the large gear pinion, so keep those. The gear teeth were all the right size, however, the large gear center hole was very tight so I kept the original one in place though might loosen up on its own. The smallish plastic bushing would not slide into one of the gears, so I used the original for that one as well. The gear damage in my motor was the small one right next to the motors worm gear, and the kit gear piece fit perfectly for that one. The last failure I had was on the passenger side, was typical failure of large gear–but this time Drivers side was small gear. Get a kit with all the gears and the rubber insert which acts like a little cushion between the motor and the window regulator. The window is up/down now and the wifey is happy.

I bought this to fix the drivers side window on a 2013 Mazda CX-9. The process to replace is fairly easy, check out the videos online. Basic steps are remove the door panel, remove the bolts holding the window motor, remove the motor and replace the gear set. Reverse the steps to re-assemble. Its been working for 6 months now – no problems.

I used these to fix the 3 windows that had the terrible grinding sounds when rolling windows up or down.
If youre mechanically inclined, you are able to replace the broken gears inside the window regulator. Saves you a lot of money vs buying a new motor assembly. The gears in the factory assembly are made of plastic that become brittle over time and therefore wear out and break, causing the gear to slip and therefore grind and fail to roll up/down the windows properly. Theres a few youtube tutorials on how to replace this gear.

I ordered 2 sets of these gears after seeing a You-Tube video that repaired a window with the same problems I was having. They fixed the problem and saved me hundreds of dollars as I did not need to replace the whole mechanism. Both the driver and passenger windows now go up and down smoothly and quietly. I would recommend that anyone who has a sticking window with a terrible grinding schreech, look into whether these gears will fix the problem.
