3mirrors Aluminium Valve Spring Height Micrometer Measurer 1.600″-2.200″ Height Range Precise Readings

Product Description:
Using Instruction
Before installing the spring on the cylinder heads, check the installed spring height:
1. Install 1 intake and 1 exhaust valve.

2. Get the correct retainer for the spring and correct locks for the retainer.

Pull the retainer tightly against the valve locks while holding the valve assembly steady.

3. Place a 4929 height micrometer or a snap gauge and a pair of calipers on the valve between the spring seat and the outside step of the retainer and turn the height micrometer counterclockwise to establish valve spring height.
After you have measured all the valves, find the shortest height.
This will become the spring’s installed height on your heads.

4. Add shims until proper height is obtained on the remaining valves.

5. Take the height micrometer and retainer to the valve spring tester and check the valve spring load at that height.

Package: 1 X Measurer.

Good value
Smooth operation but not sure about accuracy, slightly off as measured with caliper but not sure if that is accurate measurement either. Close enough for my needs though and great value compared with others costing 4 times as much.

Accurate
Measured withe my mitutoyo digital calipers and this gauge is pretty accurate. Better than expected!

Worth it for the right size retainer.
Good quality but its not for smaller LS retainers.

what it fits
I tried it on stock ford retainers and they wouldnt fit inside the micrometer.

For future buyers great little tool but off by .010.
Great tool but the marking on the tool is off by .010 so .010 marking on the tool equals 0.

Off by 0.0125″. Theres also some slop/lash in the measurement.

Measure before using
Great little low cost tool…have several high end ones similar to it. I purchased this one just to have an extra one to throw around. Be sure to check the height…mine is .015″ short thru the entire range…so I just add that to the measurement.

Gary Dosson November 12, 2021

.010 off/not accurate
The micrometer is .010 off. Anyone purchasing one would be wise to check the overall all length of the micrometer with a pair of calipers and confirm that the barrel of the mic is giving a legitimate reading.

get what you pay for
Spend a little more money for a better item

Keith Dunhamon February 16, 2022

Ehhh. You can make it work
It gets the job done. The measurements on the tool are way off. From what I read on some of the reviews I was expecting that so I just use the markings as a reference and then I measure with my calipers. Works pretty good that way. The tool is aluminum I think. Not a whole lot to complain about. It should last awhile. Not professional but ok for the hobbiest/tinkerer
